Planning Sugarfest cannot be easy. A great big thank you to John, Kathy, Nicky and the rest of the Sugarfest committee, for an extremely successful, productive and vibrant day. The fest was imaginative, systematic and full of life. It was definitely the best and biggest Sugarfest yet and could be spotted a mile away with all the waving flags, machinery, bustling crowds, implements, services and products! The participation and diversity was amazing.
Accessibility was easy with plenty of parking. The farmers and suppliers access was well strategized allowing plenty of space for trucks and machinery to turn around and park, making it easy to set up the displays and stands. Everything blended in beautifully, allowing smooth flow of traffic patterns for the exhibitors and spectators.
A big thank you to everyone who used their own “power”, generators & solar panels. John
struggles with electrical points on the field so in 2019 we will be encouraging exhibitors to follow Jubane’s
example – to run their stand from solar panels! Well done Jubane!
Sugarfest serves many functions, it is a place for business and trade, and the same time fosters social gathering and community activity. Sugarfest, which only occurs every second year, attracted huge crowds of people and the festive atmosphere provided a relaxing and entertaining place where stands were displayed and could be enjoyed. Needless to say Ritchie Motors walked away with the trophy for Best Stand on Show. Definitely an event not to be missed! The fest offers the farmers, suppliers and services a more profitable way to sell and engineer their crops, giving visitors a special way to get to know each other and learn about each other’s' needs.
Most important, the fest is fun! At night the party starts in the main tent which was bursting with laughter and music. Beer was flowing with happy and content exhibitors, comfy with their friends and families.
Sugarfest will continue to promote the sugar industry and will be building up to the great Sugarfest 2019. Organiser, John Nightingale said the stands sold out fast this year and obviously the prime spots were taken first, but everybody was very well accommodated.
