Message from show co-ordinator - John Nightingale
On behalf of the Sugarfest committee a warm welcome to all exhibitors, farmers and visitors to Sugarfest 2011.
The sugar industry has experienced a better distribution of rainfall compared to last season.
Coastal and inland areas have reported increases in yields and what with unexpected Winter showers this can only benefit the crop leading into Spring.
It is often said, 'when the farmers have a good season, commerce and industry follow suit'.
Let us hope commodity prices, etc remain reasonable and that the farmer is able to afford that long-awaited new tractor, implement or trailer.
A big thank you to our exhibitors and sponsors who go to great lengths and costs organising their respective products to be displayed at the show.
Amatikulu is an ideal central venue with spacious grounds, good security and parking close to the action.
Grateful thanks to Tongaat Huletts for making all this possible and accommodating Sugarfest.
During the day, besides all the interesting products on show, there will be various demonstrations and test drives.
The ever-popular aerial crop spraying displays are not to be missed.
In the evening and in true Sugarfest spirit, there will be live music, lucky draws and prizes in the big top.
We trust you will visit Sugarfest where new acquaintances will be made and to enjoy the camaraderie of meeting up again with old friends.
May the 'spin-offs' of Sugarfest be rewarding and beneficial to all concerned.
Cheers and enjoy the day!
